What is branding and why is it important?
Good branding sets you apart from everyone else. It lets the world know why they should choose your brand over the competition. Who are you and why should we care? — your branding should do the talking.
Your brand identity might start with a logo, but also encompasses a whole host of other elements unified into one coherent system. This could include your stationery, website, social media, your products or services and any other brand touchpoints. In a nutshell branding is the process of building awareness of your business or organisation, and keeping those customers coming back for more.
Our branding process
Our complete branding process looks like this:
Branding always starts with research. We scope out your goals, values and vision for your brand. We evaluate any existing branding you might have in place. We study what the competition are doing and your target market.
With this information collected we can begin to explore brand identity ideas and concepts. We will also explore applications and brand architecture. These ideas will be presented to you for your input and any amendments will be made before finalising.
We can begin to apply your brand identity to the touchpoints that you require. We develop the look and feel of the brand and apply brand architecture where necessary, this can be collated in a brand guidelines document.
Key to the success of any branding or logo design project is a solid design process.
Before we even think about opening up any design software we undertake research, and from there we begin looking for that big idea. This involves sketches, head scratching and copious amounts of coffee. Only after we have our ideas validated on paper do we transfer this to the computer.
